Who we are
Misunderstood Body is a cash-based post-surgical pain practice operated by Joseph Reed, sole proprietor, located at 26233 Enterprise Court, Suite 110, Lake Forest, CA 92630. Information we collect
We collect information you give us directly and information collected automatically when you use the site.
- Contact details you provide, such as your name, email address, and phone number.
- Health and history information you choose to share through our intake and screening forms, including surgical history, symptoms, and related background, which you provide so we can determine fit and prepare for your care.
- Booking and payment information. When you book, scheduling is handled through TidyCal and payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number; that is handled by our payment processor.
- Usage and device information collected automatically, such as your IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and referring source, including advertising click identifiers when you arrive from an ad.
Cookies and consent
We use cookies and similar technologies for basic site function, analytics, and advertising measurement. On your first visit you are shown a consent banner (provided by CookieYes) and non-essential tags, including Google Analytics and Google Ads tracking managed through Google Tag Manager, are held until you consent. You can accept or reject through the banner and change your choice at any time.
How we use your information
- To respond to inquiries, schedule and confirm appointments, and provide our services.
- To review your history in advance so your appointment is used well.
- To process payments and send booking confirmations and reminders.
- To send email updates you have opted into, which you can unsubscribe from at any time.
- To measure and improve our website and advertising, and to keep the site secure.
Service providers we share with
We share information only as needed to run the business, with providers who process it on our behalf, or where required by law. These include, among others: Jotform (intake and screening forms), Stripe (payment processing), TidyCal (scheduling), Kit (email), ThriveCart (digital product checkout), Netlify (website hosting), Vimeo (video), and Google (analytics and advertising). We do not sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide services, meet our legal and record-keeping obligations, and resolve disputes. You may ask us to delete information that we are not required to retain.
Your California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request access to or deletion of it, to correct inaccurate information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising in exchange for money. To make a request, email joe@misunderstoodbody.com and we will respond as required by law.
Sensitive and health information
Some of what you share with us is sensitive health information. We treat it as confidential and use it only to provide and improve your care and our services. We are a cash-based practice and do not bill insurance. Please share only what you are comfortable sharing.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect what you entrust to us.
Children
This site and our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
