What we offer
We offer in-person post-surgical pain evaluation and manual bodywork, and digital products and educational content. We are a cash-based practice and do not bill insurance.
Not medical advice, and no guaranteed outcome
Our services and content are for education and hands-on care related to post-surgical pain and function. They are not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment by a physician, and nothing on this site is medical advice. We do not diagnose disease or prescribe. Every body is different, and we make no promise or guarantee of any particular result, timeline, or number of visits. Always consult your physician about your medical condition.
Eligibility and screening
Before booking an in-person evaluation, you complete a short safety screen. Certain conditions, including surgical mesh, an implanted nerve or spinal cord stimulator, and active cancer treatment, mean the hands-on work is not appropriate, and you may instead be directed to our digital options. You agree to answer the screen honestly, and you understand that hands-on care depends on an in-person assessment of whether it is right and safe for you.
Booking, payment, and cancellation
- Appointments are scheduled through TidyCal and paid at the time of booking through Stripe. Payment secures your appointment time.
- Payment is required to confirm a booking. Because your time is reserved for you, payments are non-refundable in the event of a no-show or a late cancellation.
- You may reschedule or cancel subject to the cancellation window shown at booking. Any refund outside a no-show or late cancellation is at our discretion, and payment processor fees are non-recoverable.
Assumption of risk and release
Manual bodywork carries inherent risks. Before your first appointment you will be asked to review and sign a Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk. Participating in care means you accept those terms. If you do not agree, do not proceed with the hands-on services.
Digital products
Digital products and reviews are delivered electronically. Terms specific to each product, including any delivery timing and refund terms, are shown at checkout and apply to that purchase.
Intellectual property
The content, methods, text, images, and materials on this site are owned by Misunderstood Body and may not be copied, reproduced, or redistributed without written permission.
Third-party links and services
The site uses and links to third-party services such as Stripe, TidyCal, Jotform, Kit, ThriveCart, Vimeo, and Google. We are not responsible for the content or practices of third parties, and their own terms and privacy policies govern your use of them.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Misunderstood Body is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the service giving rise to the claim.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the courts located in Orange County, California.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted, and the effective date above will be revised. Continued use of the site or services means you accept the updated terms.
